TRANSBORDER CORPORATE INTEGRATION IN THE BALTIC SEA REGION
The author examines flows of foreign direct investment within the Baltic region. He demonstrates close investment ties among the EU members, which are of special importance for Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Transborder corporate integration in the region is characterized by significant imbalances. In many aspects, it can be viewed as Sweden’s economic expansion or development of domestic markets for northern European companies. Although many German, Polish and Russian companies are involved in corporate integration in the Baltic region, other vectors of their foreign economic relations are still more important for them. As a result, the integration of Russian business in the Baltic part of the European integration area is still rather weak. Read more...

INWARD FDI IN RUSSIA AND ITS POLICY CONTEXT, 2012
Russia is potentially an attractive host economy for foreign direct investment (FDI), mainly due to its large market and rich natural resources. The Government has, however, been unable to make the radical changes needed in the country’s investment climate for attracting FDI on a scale and to a range of industries in line with Russia’s potential. Nevertheless, oil and gas, power generation and motor vehicles industries, as well as wholesale and retail trade and several other industries have recently received new and significant FDI. AZERBAIJAN - WITH POVERTY, OIL AND EUROVISION // Arbejder En Weekly
This paper attempts to analyze the socio-economic situation of modern Azerbaijan. Shows that, despite having large hydrocarbon resources, much of the population lives in poverty. IMEMO EXPERTS PARTICIPATED IN THE PROGRAM “PRESIDENTIAL FRIENDS OF INDONESIA – 2011”
Indonesia’s domestic policy course is very likely to see the reinforcement of pro-democracy trends, which will make democratization a long-term and sustainable process. Also noteworthy will be Indonesia’s promoting its image as the biggest democratic country of the contemporary world, with secular and religious vectors contributing to successful modernization – a good example for other countries to follow. OUTWARD FDI FROM RUSSIA and ITS POLICY CONTEXT, UPDATE 2011
Russian outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) increased rapidly in the 2000s. The global economic crisis caused some structural shifts in Russian companies’ expansion abroad: for example, several Russian multinational enterprises (MNEs) lost a major part of their foreign assets.

THE SOUTH CHINA SEA ISSUE: FUTURE TRENDS AND RUSSIA’S POLICY OPTIONS
The set of problems relating to the South China Sea – a vast maritime area forming the strategic heartland of Southeast Asia – has traditionally loomed large in foreign policy priorities of the key powers shaping the regional geopolitical landscape. Currently, there are strong reasons for arguing that the South China Sea issue is very likely to increase its rank in the key priorities of the US, China and ASEAN. Read more...
