• analysis of reforms in Russia’s financial sector and their results;
• analysis of the future development of Russia’s financial sector and of the factors responsible for its development;
• major factors determining the banks’ functions in the Russian economy;
• the world and Russian banking crises: their origin, distinctive features and consequences;
• analysis of the situation in other subsectors of Russia’s financial sector.

The analytical work and findings of the Section are of practical importance: it renders consulting services to the officials responsible for the budget reform and the relevant institutional and administrative reforms.
